Lil Wayne Gets One Year in a Lil Jail Called Rikers

New York- Lil Wayne, aka Dwayne Carter, Jr., was sentenced in a Manhattan court today for a 1-year stint at Rikers Island for possession of a .40-calibur semiautomatic weapon on his tour bus back in 2007, a charge to which Carter pleaded guilty back in October.  Prosecutors in the case worked a deal for the 1-year jail term in exchange for his plea.

I bet Lil Wayne's thinking "F*ck the Police"

Carter’s sentencing had been postponed twice in the ensuing months since October; first in February so he could get some grill work done and then again after a fire broke out in the courthouse last week.

A heavily guarded Weezy was led into the courtroom amidst a crushing throng of paparazzi and well-wishing fans, where his sentence was handed down by Justice Charles Solomon of  New York’s State Supreme Court.

Lil Wayne simply shook his head no when his Honor asked if he had anything to say.  The Judge then promptly dropped the jail bomb stating, “That’s the sentence I’m imposing, one year.” Lil Wayne was immediately handcuffed and led away, though it is expected that with good behavior he could be released as early as October.

Lil Wayne has been preparing for his trip to Jailmaica by amping up his work schedule, posting farewell videos for his fans and is reported to have shot footage for 7 videos in one night over the weekend.  In an interview a month ago with Rolling Stone he stated, “I’ll still be rapping in there, have a gang of raps ready when I come back home.”

In 2008, his album “Tha Carter III” was the best-selling album of the year; it still remains to be seen what “Rebirth” released last month, will do in the charts while Weezy wears the orange.

Protective custody is planned out of concern for the rapper’s overall health and safety and City Jail Officials have been tight-lipped about exactly where the mulit-platinum star will be kept.

After sentencing when his Honor Solomon was asked if there was an added concern for Lil Wayne’s safety since he’s “wanted by every lady cop all over”, the Judge is reported to have replied, “Wee ooo, wee ooo, wee.”
