About To Die? Then Get High!
Researchers at the UCLA Medical Center are working on a study that claims Magic Mushrooms can ease the fear and anxiety of a certain death within terminal cancer patients. The patients were given the active ingredient in Mushrooms [psilocybin] and asked to lay down, get comfortable and listen to music for several hours.
Researchers found that the positive effect from psilocybin lasted up to 6 months after the trip. Due to the strict government crack down on psychedelics in the 60’s and 70’s, these drugs were practically banned from research facilities and unavailable for any type of testing.
This is not the first drug to have a positive effect on illness. In April of 1994 the FDA formally approved the use of MDMA/Ecstasy for medical use. Since 1977 and 1985, roughly half a million doses of MDMA were medically distributed in testing for various treatments including schizophrenia, rape trauma, and depression. MDMA was even dubbed “the truth serum” in various studies due to it’s way of extremely easily way of getting the truth out of those who have taken the drug.
Hallucinogens have been found in thousands of studies to be very beneficial. The first clinical trial using LSD began in Switzerland in the 1970s and was found to as well, ease the fear of death, deal with obsessive compulsive disorder, and ease physical and emotional pain.
As you already know, Marijuana has many documented personal and medical benefits as well as being the closest in California History to being legalized right now as it’s ever been.
So what’s the moral of the story, folks?
Happy? Sad? Depressed? In Pain? Bored? Going to die? Just get high.
