Chick-Fil-A Hates Gay People
That’s right, folks, America’s favorite place to get waffle fries has just been outed for giving millions of dollars in donations to anti-gay groups. The company that was previously voted America’s third most beloved restaurant chain has apparently been bankrolling the anti-gay movement for years.
According to research recently released, Chic-Fil-A donated nearly $1 million dollars to anti-gay groups between 2003 and 2008. Then, as the chain grew in 2009, they opened up the donation flood gates, and donated an astonishing $2 million dollars to groups with anti-gay agendas. Needless to say, that’s a lot of lobbying money working against the gay activists in Washington, and is one heck of a political statement by a fast-food chain of its caliber.
IRS 990 forms clearly show that WinShape, the restaurant chain’s charitable foundation, which was founded by Chick-Fil-A’s chairman S. Truett Cathy, gave the following anti-gay groups donations in 2009:
- Marriage & Family Legacy Fund: $994,199
- Fellowship Of Christian Athletes: $480,000
- National Christian Foundation: $240,000
- Focus On The Family: $12,500
- Eagle Forum: $5,000
- Exodus International: $1,000
- Family Research Council: $1,000
Cathy responded to the anti-gay claims by saying “While my family and I believe in the Biblical definition of marriage, we love and respect anyone who disagrees.”
Sorry, Chik-Fil-A, but you can’t love and respect someone while donating millions of dollars to suppress their rights.
