Sarah Palin Says to Relax on Marijuana Laws?
Sarah Palin has taken a stance on the marijuana debate, and it is a tad bit surprising. If you still follow Palin, you know that she has slowly backed away from the Republican party and has embraced and been embraced by that wacky “Tea Party”. Palin has surprised all parties when she spoke of private marijuana use being a minimal problem for America. Palin made the comment during an appearance on the Fox Business Network with Rep. Ron Paul from Texas.
The Libertarian Paul said enforcing marijuana restrictions specifically and the war on drugs more generally is a “useless battle”. Palin basically agreed with Paul, though she was clear that she does not support legalization. Palin stated, “If we’re talking about pot, I’m not for the legalization of pot. I think that would just encourage our young people to think that it was OK to go ahead and use it.”
“However, I think we need to prioritize our law enforcement efforts,” Palin added. “If somebody’s gonna smoke a joint in their house and not do anybody any harm, then perhaps there are other things our cops should be looking at to engage in and try to clean up some of the other problems we have in society.” Palin then urged law enforcement to “not concentrate on such a, relatively speaking, minimal problem we have in the country.”
The question is, has the former Republican VP candidate and Governor of Alaska ever lit up a joint? She told the Anchorage Daily News in ’06, “I can’t claim a Bill Clinton and say that I never inhaled.”prma
