Golden Boy’s Last Individual Event!
Michael Phelps’ last individual event of his career ends with a three-peat for gold, and tomorrow will be the last event of his Olympic career. Phelps waited to pour it on in what swimmers call the back half of the race, as he came flying home to win the 100m fly in 51.21 seconds. The victory gave Phelps his second individual gold medal in the 2012 London Games. It was his 21st career Olympic medal and 17th gold. It also provided him with his second Olympic three-peat; the day after he became the first male swimmer to win an event at three Games in a row, the 200-meter individual medley. I think there is no question who the greatest Olympian of all time is!
